Open Mic Poetry Reading – a relaxed community poetry space
📅 12th March 2026
🕕 6pm to 8pm
📍 Kilcoynes, Wigan Lane
This isn’t a performance night and there’s no pressure to get up and read.
It’s a relaxed poetry evening for people who enjoy words, creativity and being around others who feel the same.
You’re welcome to come and:
• listen to poetry
• sit and write or scribble ideas
• just be in the space
• share something if you’d like (totally optional)
However you show up is enough.
We’ll be starting the evening with 30 minutes from Wigan based poet Dave Taulty. His poetry mixes humour with really relatable everyday life and proper Wigan moments that always keep people engaged.
Dave will also be bringing his newest poetry book along on the night if you’d like to buy a copy.
The evening is in the cosy setting of an Irish bar, we will provide the snacks, so it’s a really nice place to settle in and enjoy the night.
After Dave’s set, the space stays open for relaxed listening, writing and optional sharing.
If you already know you’d like to read something, feel free to message us so we can get a rough idea - (you can email us here: hello@letsshapeourcreativity.co.uk)
If you decide on the night that you fancy sharing, that’s absolutely fine too.
Just a lovely way to spend an evening with like minded people, enjoying community poetry together in a beautiful setting.
No experience needed.
No pressure.
Donations to LSoC are welcome on the night to keep these events affordable and open to all!
